Horror at the Drive In

Unsuspecting audiences arriving at Artrix’s Halloween Horror at the Drive-In event were greeted by some horrifyingly realistic vampires and zombies wandering around the Bromsgrove arts centre’s car park. A video by Jack Buck of some of the highlights of the event is available here

A group of emerging artists successfully created a chilling but fun immersive experience, coordinated by Artrix Director, Hannah Phillips. Having been suitably spooked, groups of friends and families relaxed in the foyer area where there was a Halloween-themed set with a focus on music by black artists. They then collected their pre-ordered hot meals and returned to their cars to settle down to watch the movie.

Hannah said ‘This was such a cool event, the music was on point and the actors were terrifying. There was even an appearance by Lady Gaga! What’s not to like?  I would like to thank BFI Black Star for funding the immersive elements of this event to enable us to share the skills of some talented emerging artists and prompting us to screen such a great film for Halloween. We are really pleased to be part of this very important campaign. We’re now looking forward to our next Drive-In events for Valentine’s Day’

Andrew Nash from BBC Hereford and Worcester introduced the film and interviewed some of the actors and audience members on the night.

Artrix would also like to thank BFI's Film Audience Network, Heart of Worcestershire College and Sidemoor Fish Bar for their support with these events.
