Celebrating its 75th anniversary year, Barnt Green Choral performs the ever-popular choral masterpiece and contemporary classic ‘The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace’ by Karl Jenkins, together with ‘Song of the Universal’ by Ola Gjeilo.
The Armed Man blends a variety of musical styles, including traditional Western classical music, the Latin Mass, 15th-century French folk song, and elements from other traditions. It is a large-scale work for chorus, orchestra, and soloists, notable for its powerful message for peace and hope in a war-torn world.
‘Song of the Universal’ combines themes of universal truth, the pursuit of knowledge, and the struggle against societal resistance.
