‘In 1960s Liverpool, There’s a whole lotta shakin’ goin on in a backstreet beat cellar called the Cavern Club. This is Merseybeat, the sixties sound of the city, from the depths of Number 10, Mathew St. The ‘British Invasion’ starts here and during the next two years ‘Merseymania’ rules the world!’.

This vibrant and exciting show comes straight out of the Cavern Club featuring the world famous club’s resident Merseybeat combo, The Shakers and their authentic 60s ‘Maximum Merseybeat’ sound. The stars of the show,  guest artists Danie Cox as Cilla Black and Neil Ainsby as Gerry Marsden, keep the show swingin’ as Liverpool Everyman/Playhouse actor Paul Codman (Cavern of Dreams, Be Bop A Lula) as the ‘host with the most’ keeps the story movin’ while Toni Baker on keys (The Dakotas, The Merseybeats) enhance the hits of our stars. It is very much a love letter to Liverpool and the sixties sound of the city, as every song in the show was performed by a Liverpool artist during the Mersey Sound era.

The show features the Mersey beat boom hits, Cavern stompers and a shot of rhythm & blues (with just a little rock ’n’ roll on the side, just for good measure) from The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Searchers, Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas, Cilla Black, Swinging Blue Jeans, The Big Three and many more. It’s the beat that’s hard to beat!

‘9/10! Outstanding! A ’must see’ show’ – Writebase

'This is as close as time travelling back to that unique era as you can get, and it’s well worth the journey' - North West End.

‘A full house and the audience really got into the spirit of the show by dancing and singing. A great trip back to the start of the ‘Mersey Sound’ and the ‘British Invasion’ when ‘Merseymania’ ruled the world!’ – Number 9, Reviewing the Arts.

The Shakers have been resident in the Cavern Club since 2006 and are Liverpool’s leading beat combo with a solid reputation across the UK and beyond as ’the best Merseybeat group out of Liverpool since the 60s!’ – (‘THE BEAT’ magazine).
